Test
This first test of NFSv4 over Internet is done between the CITI and Bull. The server is in the Michigan and the client is in Grenoble. The goal of this first test is to know if NFSv4 is robust to share data on Internet. Tests stress the main filesystem functions. Tests used are fsstress and fsx.
Test analysis
fsstress and fsx have been blocked quickly. A stat done on the directory used for the tests have been also blocked. A trace of the network trafic shows there are several packet retransmissions. Retransmitted packets are only COMPOUND packet within the RENEW operation. Each 60 seconds exactly the RENEW operation and three packets RCP retransmission are sent from the client to the server.
